Wedding Band Versus DJ

Common misconceptions for Wedding Entertainment, Live music verses/ DJ (non live music). Firstly, I would like to offer a little free advice and hopefully enlighten all couples thinking about their reception, on what sort of entertainment to use.

Firstly, I would like to say that the correct DJ with cutting edge equiptment, carefully chosen on a word of mouth referral basis, can be a very valuble and enjoyable part of your evening. The flip side if this scenario, can turn one of the most precious days of your life into one of the most regrettable, if not forgetable, head in your hands experience.

Now some of the reasons for this are as follows, inapropriate song choices for your guests, which can range from small children through to senior citizens, another very common faux par is (talking) due to the fact that a lot of DJs don`t do a lot of Entertaining / talking to an audience, so when requested to do so can lead to idel self indulgent rambling. Also a DJ can sometimes be a clinical / classless environment which you can reproduce at home yourself for free with your ipod. All in all, it adds up to a pretty dull, loud night.

Onto Live Music, your Live band should offer you appropriate song choices ie, Dinner Music, Party Music, Dance Music, Quality sound, Quality instrumentation, Versatility with repetoire, flexability and a superb ability to reproduce your favourite songs with accurate in tune, clear vocal renditions. I would also advise that you try and see your Band of choice live at a venue, they should be more than willing to offer up a selection of dates (if they work regularly enough!) for you to come and see them, if they are confident in their work this will not be a problem. As a bonus, if you have a particular song requirement that you would like to have played by your Live Music choice, they should be able to offer you this service, given they have enough notice to complete that task.

To conclude, if I happen to be your Wedding Entertainment choice, I confidently offer you all the above criteria for a successful wedding reception and /or Ceremony.

We hired Wayne Wiltshire for our wedding, not only did he perform at our reception but he sang as I walked down the aisle which was so special and romantic. Every time I hear Michael Bubles' "Home" it brings me back to that wonderful day. His performance at the reception was so much fun and he is such a professional. Five years on we still have people commenting on how much fun & entertaining our wedding was.
